Parker Pen
$23.61
One of my sisters had a Parker fountain pen that I ended up with. Actually, I think both of my sisters had them. Sarah’s was black with a geometric motif in green and Jen’s was all-black and I still have it. I never bought cartridges for it but I used to dunk the nib in a bottle of ink I got from my dad. I needed the ink for an art class that was put on through my school. The school provided a list of required materials and my dad, forever a cheapskate, brought me a bottle of ink he already had instead of buying one from the art store. The ink was for the Montblanc fountain pen my mom once gave him as a gift. She was very proud of that gift and still talks about it sometimes even though they have been divorced for 36 years. Of course, Montblanc ink is much more expensive than normal ink.
Sometime later, I bought a white rollerball Parker pen. It writes nicely and is handsome with a clip shaped like an arrow. I looked around for white rollerball Parker pens for Gift Shop Project but you can’t really get them. I ordered these ones from the UK where you also can’t really get them, but someone had old stock. The only problem is the pens arrived with blue ink. I like the colour blue very much but not for pen ink so I started looking around for black refills and they are available everywhere but they are expensive and I am a cheapskate so I kept looking. Then I read that Parker pens are very important in India (By Appointment to H.M. The Queen Manufacturers of Pens, Pencils and Inks Parker Pen Company Lichfield...). They are given as gifts for graduations or promotions, everyone knows Parker pens in India and they are available all over. Parker pens in India are actually made by a company called Luxor who has the rights to produce Parker products. I asked my friend Zeenat Nagree who lives in Bombay about it and she said YES, Parker pens are very important in India and she knew all about it. I asked if she would find ten black refills for me and she did. So, each of these real Parker pens comes with a slightly less real but legally real black ink refill directly from India (the blue ink will also be included).
Thank you Zeenat!
